Rapid Weight Loss

Learning how to lose weight can be a great challenge. There are many approaches being taught on how to get rid of weight and it is important to realize that there is always a way to succeed even if you have tried many different methods before and have failed, do not lose hope because the next approach you try may be the answer. Weight loss is a simple function of the following formula:

Calories Burned Each Day - Calories Consumed = Weight Loss If Positive/Weight Gain If Negative

It is basic science and this is the way weight gain and loss has been for centuries so if you find yourself gaining weight then it means you are simply consuming more calories than you are burning each day.

Starving yourself is not the answer:

This does not mean that you should lower your caloric intake dramatically. We all see the hollywood stars that look extremely thin and barely eat anything all day, this approach can be dangerous for your health as your body needs nutrition including fats in order to function optimally. If you get hungry be sure to eat but also observe carefully when you are full and avoid overeating.

You do not need to avoid all your favorite foods either, just know when to stop once you have had enough. If you feel you are eating properly but still find yourself gaining weight then you need to make sure that you are exercising properly too.

Aerobic and weight training exercise is critical:

The main reason why doing proper aerobic and weight training exercise is important is because it boosts your metabolism which means you are burning more calories each day which will no doubt help you lose weight as long you do not eat more food also.  The question is how much exercise is enough and that is important as most people do not have the luxury or time to exercise for 3 hours every day.

It is actually not necessary at all to workout that much, in fact shorter and more intense aerobic and strength training exercises are probably more effective and efficient than longer ones. It is important to monitor how active you are right now based on your current lifestyle. If you are working a job that requires a lot of physical labor then adding one to two, thirty to forty five minute aerobic exercise sessions might be enough for you to see the results you want.

On the other hand if you work a desk job and are seated all day then you will want to try 3 to 4 aerobic exercise sessions each week and try to maintain a heart rate around 130 beats per minute for thirty to forty minutes per session. Do not forget to weight train also as it is critical in boosting your overall metabolic rate. It is important even for women to train with weights since you need to add muscle and weight training or resistance training is one of the best ways to trigger new muscle growth or maintain existing mass.

You need not spend hours and hours in the gym in order to succeed with weight training. Rather the key is to target the major muscle groups and use enough resistance to encourage new muscle growth. Even a simple routine like doing one warm up set followed by one heavy set and then a cool down set can work well for many people.
